Ahanang Trade Union is devoted to protecting rights, supporting families and building futures through benefits that are designed to be a lifeline to members.

1. ATU CarePay – Available to members who have exhausted their sick leave due to short-term illnesses / Injury on duty and are still in recovery. Members can receive a maximum of 3 months’ salary.

2. ATU HelpNow – 24/7 emergency labour advice available to members who require immediate labour advise through a ‘please call me back’ system, mainly for members who find themselves in a heated dispute while on nightshift.

3. Khululeka Wellness – Khululeka meaning “be free / relieved” in Zulu is a benefit (Counselling & Financial Wellness) available to members who are undergoing dismissible offences or financial crisis.

4. ATU Family Assist – Members can extended labour advice to immediate and extended family members at a discounted price. (WhatsApp advice- R50; Telephonic advice- R80; In-person advice – R120).

5. ATU UIF Assist – Assisting members with claiming their UIF Benefits by corresponding directly with the Department of Labour for applications that are long-overdue.

6. ATU Funeral Cover – Funeral cover for all members, member’s spouse / life-partner and children.

7. ATU Legacy Education Grant – In the event that a member passes away while in service, ATU will take 1 surviving child of the deceased member to a South African Public University with all fees, books, accommodation and a monthly allowance for the duration of 1 degree, completed during record-time.
